As the mother of a daughter with learning disabilities, Joy understands the importance of access to Disability Services, what is required by law and how to ensure that students with disabilities receive the accommodations to which they are entitled. Joy’s daughter is currently a senior at East Carolina University and having a fabulous college experience. Joy attributes her daughter’s college success to an early diagnosis, a caring and knowledgeable learning specialist throughout her daughter’s elementary, middle and high school years, and the STEPP program (a unique support program available at ECU). Joy understands the vital importance of having the right team (because it takes a team) to help support and navigate the complex world of disability support.
